The Thing From a Radical Future

This is an adaptation of The Thing From The Future by Stuart Candy and Jeff Watson, redesigned to help people imagine everyday objects from timelines beyond capitalism and crisis. Players prototype tangible artifacts — a library card from a society without prisons, a utility bill from a community that learned to live within ecological limits, a menu from a neighborhood where everyone has food.

The prompts focus on the mundane infrastructure of life: how we eat, how we house one another, how we care for our neighbors when old systems are gone. By holding these visions long enough to examine their texture, we develop the muscle memory to build toward them. This is serious play for serious times.

Play the game.
